Hidden Information

There are plenty of things that search optimizers are not likely to share publicly. These include information such as names and contact details of people who are associated with specific companies, information relating to people who write blogs and link companies, content that comes from different reliable web pages, specific ways to find content using keywords, techniques used to get around bans, companies that offer lower rates for content, and the use of illegal procedures. The idea behind keeping this information secret is similar to companies like Coca-Cola not releasing the recipe to Coke. If Coca-Cola was to release that recipe, then their competition could take over. Consequently, these companies are not going to release this information because it gives them the upper hand when it comes to profit.

So how much ends up being secret information? A rough estimate is that something close to 10 percent of information is being hidden. However, because there really is no real way to verify that number, it can’t be exact, although with that number you can certainly imagine how much information is being kept behind closed doors. Even still, on the whole scale the majority of usable information is publicly available online though search engines, bloggers, experts, advertisements, and search optimizers who want to share information and benefit from their knowledge.

Because most people want to make money off of their information, most companies only keep a minuscule amount of information so they can keep their advantage and meet the needs of the customers. Most information is readily available and the amount of knowledge available now has doubled since the 90s, thus indicating that even the secret information won’t necessarily be secret for very long. The idea of open source knowledge has changed the way we look at and for information. The knowledge empire is definitely on the rise.

Two Things To Know In Seattle Apartment Hunting

One of the hardest things in the world to market is a theatrical production. Theater is a niche market and a rare indulgence for many. There are a number of people who spend countless hours trying to get the rest of the community to support the arts, but so many of them fail. It’s an unfortunate situation for these people to be in. The smaller the theater and the less known the actors are, the harder it is. Luckily, the Internet has provided an extra avenue to market to people but that is not a sure fire path to success. Still, there are ways for theatrical productions to find their way to bigger audiences…if the marketing is smart.

The first and best chance a company has to get their ad seen is to work on Google Ads. This will allow the production to be seen whenever certain keywords come up in a Google search. This is a big and effective way to market a product. Fortunately, this is also very cost effective. Most of the advertising money only gets spent when someone clicks on the link to the show. Just viewing it and having it up there will often not cost a dime.

The other advertising is through Facebook. What’s nice about Facebook is that it lets companies get very specific in the people and places that they want to advertise to. For instance, they won’t just advertise for people looking for apartments, but rather people looking for apartments for rent in Seattle. This makes it much easier not to waste money on out of state advertising.

The other ways to advertise is through grass roots campaigns on Craigslist. This is free, but would take a lot of time and energy since those ads tend to be buried rather quickly. Advertising online will make getting an audience to your show easier.

Finding Divorce Information Online

Divorce is never easy.  It is stressful for both the husband and wife.  Plus, it is hard on the children if there are any.  There are many reasons that couples get divorced and just like there are many reasons for divorce there are just as many state laws.  Depending on where you live, you will need to know what requirements there are for divorce and what laws you must follow.  You can find this information online with a little bit of searching.  Plus, you can find divorce attorneys and resources to help you if you are considering divorce.

You might wonder how I know all of this?  Well, one of my friends was recently going through a tough time in a marriage and was considering filing for divorce.  But before she made that final decision she wanted to learn more about divorce in our state of Mississippi.  We did some research and found a wealth of information online.  In fact we also found a website where she could start filing her divorce online.  She would be able to go through an online question and answer session and then be able to work with one of the Mississippi divorce lawyers in their directory to finalize the divorce.

We also discovered other things like the various legal grounds for divorce in Mississippi while we were researching online.  She found out that there is no legal separation in the state.  She also discovered that there is such a thing as no-fault divorce where both parties can claim irreconcilable differences.  We went on to read more about property division, child custody and other legal requirements for divorce in our state.  In the end, it was eye-opening and educational.  I am not sure what will happen with my friend and if she will stay married or not.  But at least now she understands her options.

The Marketing Writer’s Utility Belt: Websites that Can Help

Superman can fly. Wolverine has adamantium blades fused to his knuckles. Batman has the Batmobile, a secret hideout and Alfred. Wonder Woman has her lariat of truth, her invisible plane and bulletproof bracelets. Each hero has some special attribute or arsenal of tools to help him or her achieve superhero success in laying similarly outfitted supervillains low. You’ll notice also that many heroes won’t leave the house or Batcave or crystal cavern/Fortress of Solitude without a trusty utility belt. What the utility belt holds usually remains a mystery as we rarely see our superhero of choice putting it to use.

You may not have adamantium blades fused to your bones but you do have access to a utility belt of sorts that can make work-intensive tasks a little less challenging. The following list includes five websites that you can add to your online utility belt arsenal – if you haven’t already – for maximum effect in reducing marketing mayhem.

•Free stock photo websites like stock.xchang (www.sxc.hu)
•Copyright.gov/records- Check for copyright registration on photos and other materials.
•Snopes.com- The go-to search engine for quick general popular myth fact checking
•Wikipedia.com- Public encyclopedic resource. Since Wikipedia is created and maintained by ordinary users for the most part, it is best to use it for getting a quick overview of a subject and corroborating that information with other sources.
•An RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feed reader-A feed reader provides you with continuous updates on websites you use regularly, collecting all the latest information from your favorite sites in one place (news headlines, status updates from Facebook, whatever you choose to subscribe to). A couple well-known free RSS feed readers include Bloglines, MyGoogle, MyAOL and MyMSN.

It may not be as glamorous as a Batmobile but the utility belt list can make your work just a little bit easier. And with the way technology leaps, don’t lose hope – maybe your private Batmobile’s on its way.

Chat rooms on the Internet

What is a chat room?

No one can gainsay the social benefits of the Internet. With just a click, you can be connected to people from around the world. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this type of connection led to a greater understanding of differences between cultures, and precipitated world peace?

One way individuals connect and talk online is via chat rooms — sites that focus on one subject that people want to discuss, such as dogs, or art. These discussions are in real time. Just type in your interest, and you should be able to have an online conversation with someone across the ocean.

Usually, your Internet provider will have chat rooms. Each chat room will have different areas that cover diverse interests. And these interests are all-encompassing, from coins to breeding killer whales.

Some chat rooms have a moderator to make sure abuse doesn’t occur. If the moderator feels the conversation is getting abusive, such as advocating violence or using profanity, the moderator can shut down the site.

Teens and younger children love chat rooms, but they need to be protected. Many child advocates say to keep teens and kids away from chat rooms. The dangers are not worth the risks of a predator contacting your child.

For adults, chat rooms can be a great way to communicate with people who enjoy similar hobbies and interests. Be careful, though, that you don’t limit your social interaction to only online chatting. You still need to get out there and meet people face-to-face and not hide behind the computer!

That said, have fun exploring the world of chatting. If you do decide to meet someone on the other side of the conversation, meet in a public place and use normal precautions, just as you would on a first date or meeting someone for the first time.

Self-help on the Internet

Individuals who are depressed or have an anxiety disorder or addiction need help, but often are unable to get it through traditional channels, such as a recovery center, counselor or group therapy. They are many reasons why they fail to get this help — money, lack of energy, time commitment, lack of good local help. The reasons are many.

Many professionals in the mental health field are now looking at helping these individuals through the Internet. Psychologists are advocating online websites and support groups for people who just can’t get out to counseling or a meeting.

Self help through the Internet is often free, although there are also programs offered through subscriptions. Different types of programs are available. Many offer online books and personal anecdotes. Guides with steps to take are often available, as is general information.

Positive thinking is usually a big part of online help, coupled with proactive behavior. There are self-hep online programs for everything from diets to dealing with Alzheimer’s to meeting that right someone and overcoming anxiety.

Chat rooms are part of some sites, to give people a chance to talk about their struggles with others who can understand what they are going through and help them with suggestions and support.

If you are considering taking advantage of an online self-help program, make sure to research the company that is providing the service before you sign on the proverbial dotted line. Don’t give out any information or put any money down until you have thoroughly vetted the organization.

Serious mental health problems still need to be tackled by counseling with a trained professional, whether that is a doctor or a counselor. In some cases, a combination of Internet self help and professional face-to-face sessions is a great way to pursue help. A professional mental health worker can also help choose the best online program for your condition.

Finding Pages on the Internet

A lot of web searches, almost 30 percent by some estimates, are about finding the page or pages that the individual has already viewed. Guess they aren’t bookmarking those sites!

What does this phenomena mean in terms of social networking, which is where it most often surfaces. For instance you go on your friend’s Facebook or Twitter page, and there are a few sentences about this great article with the page listed. You think that sounds interesting, file it away for later in your thoughts, and then move on.

Later comes around and leaves you scratching your head in technological bewilderment. The question later is how do you get to that page with the article that sounded so interesting? Not very easily is the unfortunate answer. The Web collates all this information and churns it out through the Internet. Parts of the article will definately come up, but the chances that the exact page with the original article will come up are pretty slim.

It’s an interesting conundrum without a great answer as of yet. The moral of the lost web page and the fruitless search is that next time, when you visit your friend’s Facebook, Linked In, or Twitter page, remember to write down the page.

Or better yet, visit it right then and there to see if it is worth revisiting. If it is, then bookmark it. If you get into this habit, then you won’t have to spend those frustrating hours searching the Internet and clicking on to the wrong pages — one you have no interest in reading or seeing again.

So back to social networking and keeping up with the latest escapades in all your friend’s lives. After all, isn’t that part of the fun of the Internet. All work on the computer and no play makes for a sad sack computer — and user!

Comparison Shopping on the Internet

For all those bargain hunters. the Internet has been a boon. With just a click of the mouse, shoppers can pull up price lists for various products and services and do a little comparing and contrasting!

At the dawn of the Internet age, those on the prowl for the best price were not quite so lucky. At that point, in the early 1990s, the shopper could pull up a virtual yellow pages to find companies that sold a particular product or service, but cost comparison was not listed. To figure out which company sold the product at the lowest price, the user would have to click on each site, find the particular product and determine its price, including shipping and handling.

That constituted a lot of work — and maybe some sore fingers! It might have been easier than searching for the best deal on those red boots all over town — going to one store after another, but not as much fun!

With improved technology and more savvy retailers and companies, comparison shopping on the Internet became a lot easier. In the latter years of the 1990s, an individual can search and obtain listings of stores and prices for products. Eventually, shoppers could view highlighted highest and lowest prices for a product.

Some companies even offered to email a customer when a price dropped to a level requested by the customer. These comparison services are free to the user because the retailer usually pays a fee to be included.

So start your holiday shopping early! Pour yourself a nice hot cup of coffee and tea — or a glass of wine, take a seat at your computer, flex those fingers and get clicking! Who knows, that pair of red boots may be offered at a price that is too good to resist!

Droid vs iPhone vs Hunting it Down

Are you the type of person who seriously considers it a personal challenge to find the best deal on something? Do you go to flea markets and garage sales, earnestly looking for the next amazing deal that you may end up bragging about for years to come? Did you used to keep your cell phone on constantly, while subtly talking out loud to your at home contact about the merchandise on offer… while the person at home checked its likely resale price on eBay? If you are a professional deal hunter, than the Droid vs iPhone “phone war” is going to make you richer than a weapons manufacturer could get during World War III.

There are plenty of search engines out there. But while search engines are very convenient software, the idea that any search you go through would need you to be physically sitting at a computer takes away a broad stroke of the usefulness those search engines can bring to bear. While you could bring a laptop and an air card to your “hunting ground,” you might alert the other hunters if you start searching online, then suddenly seem especially interested in a particular item on offer. You have to put forward a little bit of subtlety, or you might suddenly find yourself in a pool full of sharks.

The search engines can help you suss out just about anything you might need to know about an item, whether your intention is to resell it, keep it as a collectible, or simply use it for the betterment of your own life. You can find out the subtle differences between one style of antique and a cheap knockoff they still make in China, just by doing a search on your phone. You can figure out what kind of price would yield what kind of profit, without having to go anywhere or blow your cover.
