Learn a few tips before you log on for the next game. Playing poker on the Internet is a bit different than playing in a Las Vegas hotel. When players are on the Internet as opposed to being face to face, they use different strategies. After all, they don’t have to worry about having a poker face!
When logged on, your fellow card sharks will be more likely to call. There doesn’t seem to be as much at stake when on the computer as when others are watching your every move, trying to decipher your hand based on your actions. It’s not as daunting to click on a button with the mouse as it is to gather those chips and slap them on the gaming table.
People are also ruder when chatting on the Internet than of they were sitting next to you in a game. The computer serves as a mask behind which people hide. They don’t have to be accountable for rudeness.
So just expect to get called more often and adjust your game accordingly. It won’t do you any good to get upset about it. Instead, it will ruin your fun, and you don’t want that!
Also keep in mind that when you have a lot of callers with you, there is a greater likelihood that there is two pairs or better in someone’s hand.
Don’t be fooled by nicknames. If someone has the moniker, Bluffhand, don’t assume that the player is always bluffing. In fact, the person may never bluff, but just wants to lead players astray.
So you can’t actually see your fellow poker players, but you can determine what their hands might be by their actions. If a player bets fast, you might consider that the hand is strong. Players need time to think about their bet if they have a so-so hand or a bad hand.
